What Is ChargeWest?

ChargeWestTM is an EV corridor collaborative across eight states in the Intermountain West region. We are committed to improving Electric Corridors throughout rural gateway communities, state and national parks, and scenic byways. The states involved are Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

OUR MISSION: The entire Intermountain West Region will benefit from the ChargeWest project, which aims to support consumer education, stakeholder engagement, and rural infrastructure development of electric vehicle charging from the expansion of Alternative Fuel Corridors.

ChargeWest History

REV West
In October 2017, the Governors of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming signed a MOU to establish a Regional Electric Vehicle Plan for the West (“REV West Plan”). This MOU was renewed in 2019. Under the REV West Plan, the signatory states agree to work together to create an interconnected Intermountain West Electric Vehicle (EV) Corridor that will make it possible to seamlessly drive an EV across the western states’ major transportation corridors. NASEO facilitates support to the Signatory States as they implement activities outlined in the MOU, including creating best practices to enhance EV adoption, coordinating on EV charging station locations, creating voluntary minimum standards, and leveraging economies of scale.
CORWest
EV Corridors WEST - USA (CORWest). Utah Clean Cities was funded by the Department Of Energy Vehicle Technologies Office during 2019-2022 to lead the CorWest project, working collaboratively with Clean Cities Coalitions, State Transportation, Energy, and Tourism Offices across the 8 states to build a regional EV Corridor brand (ChargeWest), as well as identify key barriers and needs for supporting vehicle electrification across rural areas. CORWest built regional connectivity, creating the largest EV corridor collaborative in the U.S., designed to scale & replicate nationally.
ChargeWest
ChargeWest West Electric Highway - is a collection of Intermountain West states committed to improving electric corridors across the western United states; building infrastructure for rural gateway communities, state and national parks, monuments, recreation areas and scenic by-ways.
The states involved are Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
Utah Clean Cities has received a second round of funding through the Department of Energy Vehicle Technologies Office (2024-2027) for ChargeWest@Scale to further plan and catalyze electrified corridors throughout the 8 state region. This project is designed to work in conjunction with state NEVI plans, and to scale and replicate in other regions. The project places particular focus on EVSE corridors along scenic byways and All-American roads, while in tandem supporting rural workforce development, coordination with specialized transportation needs, and resilient and co-located hydrogen infrastructure planning.
